Zwart Art

Since early childhood, I have been journaling in diaries, school agenda's, letters, and via diverse art forms.

I started writing autobiographical books in 2010. After finishing the first novel in 2017, I subsequently finished eleven manuscripts and I am currently working on five more.

In April 2024, I (re)discovered visual arts as a means of journaling.

My paintings reflect the magic of my daily experiences and-together with my manuscripts-form a 'human document'.
My art makes me look at the world from a perspective of 'living art.

My art is either therapeutic (with emotions), phenomenologic (describing without judging, giving space for others to fill the gaps), or manifesting.

I believe in being the creator of my own destiny, and combining my dreams, imagination, and real life experiences brings such destiny closer to my wish fulfillment.

From a more macro perspective, I believe that in this era of generative Al, the 'human soul' (the lived experiences of a human being) will gradually be lost, immersed in the collective intelligence that was captured in recent decades via online creative outlets.

As a mother of three grown men, I know from experience that children need to refer their experiences to role models to grow up in a harmonious manner. As adults, this mirroring behavior still defines most of our unconscious actions, and feelings.

Thus, I think artistic expression is a crucial tool for happiness and human flourishing, both for the artist, and the observer. The artist discovers hidden layers - micro or macro, can ventilate or funnel emotions and thus wises up. The observer can mirror the displayed experiences and feelings to their own journey.

As Jung said:
"Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate"
